Ford Recalls Hundreds of Thousands of Maverick Pickup Trucks across 2022-2025 Models

Ford Maverick is a compact pick-up truck that offers the best of both worlds - a powerful pickup capable of basic hauling with an impressive fuel efficiency due to its size. It's the perfect choice for city dwellers who are looking for something that can help them haul items when needed but economical and small enough for easy city use.

But the popular compact truck has had its fair share of recalls over the years. Let's take a look at the recall history so far!

Ford Maverick Recall History

Since its launch in 2021, the Ford Maverick has been recalled a lot, starting in 2022 when more than 100,000 vehicles were recalled - specifically those built between February 2021 and June 2022.

The problem?

Some models posed a fire risk with engine failure releasing oil and vapor into the engine compartment, which could ignite. A fix was developed by Ford, involving modifications to the under-engine shield and grille shutters. It was rolled out in mid-2023.

The issue this time around was with the vehicle's BCM (Body Control Module), which was causing problems with tail lights not activating. This recall affected more than 240,000 vehicles in total. A calibration was needed to fix it.

The Ford Maverick has also faced multiple recalls because of battery issues. Faulty batteries from Camel Battery of China were found to have internal weld and cast-on-strap defects, which could lead to sudden battery degradation while driving. This issue caused vehicles to lose power or fail to activate hazard lights. Initially Ford issued a recall in April 2024 but with continued complaints, they had no choice but to issue a second recall in January 2025 to replace the defective batteries.

Around 71,000 Ford Maverick trucks were recalled because of issues with the dashboard instrument panel airbag warning lights.

Over 62,000 Ford Maverick Hybrid vehicles from 2022-2023 were recalled due to faulty instrument panel software.

Is My Maverick Really Affected?

The recalls initiated by Ford for their Maverick trucks were issued as a precaution to prevent accidents that could result in injuries or even fatalities. Fortunately, many of these recalls are minor inconveniences and can be resolved quickly by an authorized Ford dealer.

It is important to know that Ford and all other car manufacturers can identify which vehicle to recall through their VIN or Vehicle Identification Number.

Fortunately, finding out if a vehicle is being recalled is relatively easy.

A simple visit to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration or NHTA's official website will clarify things. You can use your VIN or license plate number on the website to look-up possible recalls from manufacturers.

You can also check Ford's Official Recall Site to see if your vehicle is affected.
